I enjoy the shows and learn from them.
Please devote more effort audio quality! Bad hotel wifi or folks shuffling papers, doing dishes or sitting back in a desk chair while on a mic that is feet away ruins the listen ability of your otherwise great talks. Thx
Wow, got a great insight from this excellent talk!
I have introduced devops in a traditional ITIL-based enterprise focusing on bringing configuration and release management under control - mainly through automation the administrative parts. Build and deployment was already automated long ago but testing remained till today a mostly manual effort because of the lack of experience by the teams and the existence of difficult-to-automate technologies and third party applications. So currently the release frequency is limited by this manual test phase. I wrote a blog post series about this whole experience on http://niek.bartholomeus.be.
I'm still struggling to see how you can speed up the release cycle to less that one or two weeks in an environment with so many interdependent applications being developed by dedicated dev teams. In other words, how can you do daily releases if you have to wait until another team has finished a component that you rely upon? Would be nice to shed some light on this topic in part 2 of the show.
Can't wait to hear part 2 of the show!
Niek.
I just recently found this podcast and I must say I was hooked after listening to this episode.
Really interesting and also funny (almost had the exact same chef/continual deployment vs culture & behaviour discussion).
I really can't wait for the next episode!
